Invisible Borders
Oil and mixed media on canvas | 100 × 90 cm | 2022
1st Art Prize Ordino Jardins d'Art 2022
"Invisible Borders" explores the extrasensory human dimension: how we perceive depth in certain people while others pass unnoticed. The series investigates those invisible thresholds of connection and recognition between human beings.
The original installation combined linear figures in plexiglass that camouflaged with the environment, contrasted with three imposing portraits where the use of color and disruptive realism allows a psychological reading of the represented subject.
El Mentiroso and El Consciente are double-sided works that can be contemplated from both sides, offering two distinct readings of the same figure. This physical duality reinforces the concept of the multiple layers of perception we apply to those around us.
Wisdom completes the triad with a mixture of hyperrealism and chromatic abstraction that captures the tension between the visible and the intuited.

Through speculative hyperrealism, this work visually materializes inner wisdom as a state of the subconscious. The portrait captures the moment where deep understanding physically manifests in the face, suggesting that true knowledge transforms our very essence. The mixture of realism and chromatic abstraction makes tangible the intangible of the human illumination process, revealing those invisible borders between what we show and what we are.

Detail 2
Double-sided work that explores the duality between appearance and truth. On one side, the open eyes capture the subject's expression in the act of lying. When rotating the work, the closed eyes reveal the internal weight of their deception. This physical double reading materializes how we perceive contradictions in others: that invisible border between what someone projects and what we sense they hide.
